Yellowstone and Utah Trip in June 2016 with Grand Parents

Are you thinking about taking a vacation? 

One spot to enjoy and remember is Utah! Utah is a cool state with many things to do all the time. I am a 4th grader and this summer I went on a Yellowstone National Park trip. Salt Lake City is in Utah and it was on our way to Yellowstone. We stayed for two nights there.

There are many places to see for kids in Salt Lake City, like the Natural History Museum of Utah, Mormon Center, Great Salt Lake etc. Museum may seem boring for kids but  Natural History Museum of Utah really has multiple hands on things to do for them. It also has skeletons of Dinosaur from ages back which I enjoyed very much. Next to the museum is The Red Butte Garden & Arboretum. Even though I didn't  get the pleasure of seeing it, I'm sure there would be many unique and exotic plants on display for you to see.

If you're on your way to Yellow Stone National Park you may just have the time to squeez in going to see the state capital of the state of Utah.

If you’re a while away from Utah, take a plane. If you’re taking the plane the best option in my opinion is by Cheap-O-Air. the “brand” to take is the South West Airlines. I prefer South West Airlines because you get complimentary drinks,  nice spacing, etc. If you’re an early bird you should take their earliest flight to Utah, because they cost the least money(A penny saved is a penny earned right :)  ). One of the great things in Salt Lake City is their Jesus Christ temple called The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. In the area if you go in you can do many activities on the Jesus Christ Religion. The next spot you would want to visit is the area 7 HOURS:( away from Salt Lake City. It is called Yellow Stone National Park. Here there are many places to have exploration, expand your understanding of wild animals, and enjoy a natural Hot Pool. The closest thing to the Yellow Stone entrance from the south entrance is the Lewis River and falls. Overall I think the Utah experience will be one to remember. I hope you enjoyed as much as I did. 

Cancun

Dear Readers,

In November 2015 I went with my family to Cancun from the Bay Area. We took a plane from California to Denver and landed in Houston,which was where we had a 6 hour stop-over and then it was off to Cancun .  My advice is Houston is a bad area to sleep and if you also have to make a layover bring a puffy blanket because they have hand rails/arm rests

On the first day we saw our hotel, the (quite hard to know your way around) Moon Palace it was HUGE (it was so big some people used golf carts to get around).There was a Jacuzzi in our fabulous room. Our room was only going for us to be able to go in at 3:00 and we reached at 10:30. So we stayed In the pools for 4 ½ hours . What I most enjoyed was the flowrider, it was fun but must I say it was hard to learn the trick to the boogie board on the flowrider. It  was to if you reach the side push off and if you reach the peak get on your knees and don’t do tricks unless you’re a pro . After 4 ½  hours our room was ready. My eyes were burning that day so i decided to use eye drop (I suggest to bring eye drop if you're going swimming).After that i didn't really go swimming any more I only went on the flow rider and also I thought the water slides were epic but the truth was that in the resorts I went to there were only two water slides.One was small,but you could go two people if you got the right lifeguard.On the other one it was high,but you could only go not head first or with two people.The next day my friend came to Cancun.In the time my friend came to Cancun I was wide awake.The minute I got to the water my friend jumped, not knowing about the cold water. He then ran out of the water and grabbed a towel.Then I jumped in the water and chillaxed in the cold but deep water. What I mean by deep is that the water was about 5 ½  feet deep. Now just then my friend saw the flow rider. He was so happy, later that night there was a fire show. I thought it was as grand as the Moon Palace. The next night there was a magic show.    Summer Activities  

Kerplunk! What are your favorite Summer activities to do? Three of mine are, first on hot day I love to bath and lolligag in the pool. For example, if a heat wave was to come over california, all the pools would be jam-packed with all the people trying to cool off.My second reason is that in the summer school is over. That means that we can go to vacations to our favorite relaxing spot. My final reason is that on Summer days we have more time to sleep and play games we like to play. For instance, if you are having a sleepover with your friend you would have more time to play games and have fun. These are three shooting star reasons why Summer is an amazing season.

Father’s day

Have you ever really thought about the concept of Father’s day? Well if you do, then i have got quite the type of topic you will not only enjoy, but love. Today I’m going to tell you three things that wouldn’t be possible for me to do without my dad. Number one, the thing I wouldn’t be able to survive without my dad to do is to tell me to reread my answers. For example, if I’m in the middle of a nerve-racking test, I would usually check my answers after i write or type them. Reason two is that in my family, my dad is the only boy in the family (other than me)so with my dad i can play games that boys just like in general. Like when my other family members are busy, at some times playing with my dad can be ultra fun. My final reason is that without my dad, who would take me to events, drop me to school… My dad is the only person in my family who has time to drop me to events and other places. Like if i want to go to my friend’s house, I have to ask my dad to go. These are three of my greatest reasons to have a dad.

   The Hubble Telescope

Have you ever wanted to go to space?  Well, you don’t have to, because of the Hubble Telescope. The Hubble Telescope is a huge telescope floating in space. The Hubble Telescope takes pictures of space in every angle and sends them to our home planet, Earth.The Hubble telescope was made on April 25, 1990. I think the Hubble Telescope can help us understand what is far away from us.

                                         Extraterrestrial life forms

That leads us to another question, are there any other living things other than us in the Universe? I believe that other organisms do exist on planets other than Earth. This is because there is a microorganism called as Tardigrade. A Tardigrade is a microorganism that has 6 legs. It can live for a millennial without harm from extreme weather, and it can even go without air. It is a extraterrestrial life form/alien that lives in comets or meteors.

 What’s your Weather?

What’s your favorite type of weather? Mine is rain, for four different reasons. My first reason is because California is in a drought and when it rains it gives the water we need to live. Reason two is after it rains it leaves puddles it bumps in the sidewalk. And I like to jump in those puddles to make huge mini splashes. Next, after it rains, sometimes it makes a rainbow. I like rainbows because they show all the colors of the rainbow. Fourth, I like to play while the rain is dropping. I like to stick my tongue out to try to catch rain. These are four reasons why I like rain over other types of weather.

     

How Much Homework?           

How much homework do you think is too much? I think at my school, Murdock-Portal, they give less than enough homework. Three reasons for that are… Number one, All the math we receive, I believe it is kind of below our standard math level, one example i have is that most people have to take math classes to learn new concepts. Reason number two is the fact since we have so little homework to do our brains aren’t growing at a constant rate, learning new cool fact or bits of information. My final reason is that with so little home work, our brain only does things it wants us to do, like watch TV. But with more and harder homework our brain will make us spend less time on the screen and soon instead of using your free time to play games, you can spend time reading or playing actual games. These are my three reasons to give more homework at school.

Most challenging subject in school

In my opinion the most challenging subject in school is writing. There are three reasons why I think writing is the hardest subject in school. First, without having a specific topic to write about gives one to many ideas which can block the writer from thinking. In a topic such as Your Favorite Place, it is so broad because you may have many favorite places that you want to write about. Because you have so many ideas you can’t think of which one to do so you just can’t really write about the topic. Second, when you write a paragraph and you can’t make sense of all the ideas you can’t really tell what to write. So instead of saying “with a gracefully performed swan dive into the water, David survived the fall of the Titanic” you would say”he jumped and survived.” Finally, writing is also hard because for people like me who can’t essays without their finger getting a red bump. For example, let’s say you have to write two chapters of Harry Potter with a normal graphite pencil. That’s a lot more than 1 essay, so for the people who get the red bumps on their fingers because they hold on too tight, they would constantly have to take breaks to stop the red bumps from growing very large and pains intensely.These are three reasons why writing is the most challenging subject in school in my opinion.

Going To The Park

Do you like the park.I’m going to tell you three fun things to do at the park. First, I enjoy to play around on the swing. Some ways to play are to lay down on the seat and twist the seat in any direction you want.Then once you can’t twist it more let go, you will being going really fast in circles.It’s fun I can guarantee. Next,  if there is a structure to play on you can play hot lava monster. In Hot Lava Monster there is a monster that can only go on one color and she/he tries to tag the rest of the people. Finally, if you have any toys that you can ride you can play fun games with them. One game I like is scooter tag. In scooter tag there is one chaser and the chaser tries to get close enough on the scooter to tag the other person.These are three really fun things to do at the park.

KIMOCHI"S KEY

If you are having a tussle or an awkward/hard time with someone, use a talking face and relaxed body language as per the teachings of Kimochi’s key rules.

A talking face is, when you are not screaming or shouting at the other person. It is as if you are talking in your inside voice. If you are flaying your arms around and intimidating the other person that is he absolute opposite of a relaxed body language.

Two examples to why & how you should use Kimochi’s key rules are:

1.     While on the playground, if you accidently take the hang glider out of your turn, you should use a talking voice to tell the other person, “I accidently took the hang glider not noticing it was your turn so I’m sorry “, can you forgive me.

2.     If you aggravate someone by not saying sorry in above kind of situation, then they will hold a grudge against you. So better to avoid that.
